Jeanne de Salzmann (born Jeanne-Marie Allemand) known as Madame de Salzmann was born on 26 January 1889 and died on 24 May 1990 in Paris). She was undoubtedly the closest pupil of Gurdjieff and for many years after his death was instrumental in establishing and spreading his teaching throughout the world. She was responsible for making several films of Gurdjieff’s movements, which are practiced by members of the various groups that have since been established in different countries.
